About Australian Trips
Practical guides, itineraries and costs to help you plan a trip to Australia.
Who runs this site
Australian Trips is one of Greg's travel websites. His son, Caleb Parsons, a student at Brock University, helps edit it. He checks pages against official sources, fixes errors and updates the dates you see at the top of each guide.
We do not claim to be locals, and we do not invent first-hand stories. When a guide says what a place is like, that comes from official visitor information, operators' published details and the public sources listed on the page.
What you will find here
- Itineraries you can adapt, from 10 days to four weeks on the east coast.
- Road trips with drive times taken from official tourism sources, such as the Tasmania self-drive guide.
- Planning tools: the trip quiz, the cost calculator (AUD) and the best time to visit guide.
How we research and update guides
Visa rules, park passes, ferry timetables and road conditions change. For those details we link to the agency that sets them: the Department of Home Affairs for visas, Parks Australia and state park services for passes, Tourism Australia and state tourism bodies for distances and drive times, and the Bureau of Meteorology for seasons.
Prices are the hardest thing to keep current. Where we give a price, it is either a fixed government fee with a link, or a rough planning range in Australian dollars that is labelled as an estimate. Check the live price before you book.
Each guide shows the date it was last updated. We change that date only when the content has been checked or changed, not when we adjust the design.
How the site is funded
Some pages include partner links to Stay22 (hotel search), Viator and GetYourGuide (tours). If you book through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Partners do not review or approve our content. Read the affiliate disclosure for details.
Acknowledgement of Country
Australian Trips acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands across Australia and pays respect to Elders past and present. We encourage readers to book experiences led by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and to follow guidance from Traditional Owners at places such as Uluru.
